Privacy Policy

This policy is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, write to peace.ingenious@gmail.com and we will explain it in plain words.
The short version
- The app collects nothing. No account, no tracking, no advertising. What
you read and how you read it stays on your device.
- The website collects only what you give it: your email when you buy
something, and — only if you commission a world — the story you choose to send.
- A commissioned world becomes a product we sell. You are told this before
you pay, and the public version never carries your beloved's name. This is the most important paragraph in this policy; the full explanation is below.
- We never sell your data, and we never publish your story.
1. The app
The Ophelia app is free, and holds no account.
It stores your settings and reading progress on your device only — font, theme, bookmarks, progress. None of it reaches us. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no crash reporter that carries personal data.
The app talks to the internet only to fetch public-domain books and their metadata, from third-party services you choose in Settings: Project Gutenberg, Open Library, the Internet Archive, Google Books, Wikipedia, and dictionary and translation services. Those requests carry your search terms and your IP address to those services, under their own privacy policies — not ours.
If you buy a world inside the app, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play. We receive Google's payout reports; we never see your card.
2. The website

We do not collect card numbers. Payment happens on the payment provider's own hosted page; we never see or store card details.
Who else touches it
- Payment processors — Razorpay (India) and our global merchant of record.
They are independent controllers of your payment data under their own policies.
- Hosting and email delivery — infrastructure providers acting on our
instructions only.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for advertising. We have never done either and this policy does not reserve the right to start.
3. If you commission a world — read this before you pay
When you commission a world under Revive Your Beloved, you send us something very personal: who you lost, and how. We want you to know exactly what happens to it.
Your story is read by the maker alone. It is never published, never quoted, never shown to anyone else. It is stored encrypted, and you can have it deleted at any time (§5).
The world built from it becomes a product we sell. After it is delivered to you, the world is released into the app as a purchasable theme. It launches free for everyone to use for 7 days — during which it can be bought at half price — and after that week it costs $4.99 like every other commissioned face.
We tell you this before you pay, and you agree to it in the Terms, because it is the arrangement that makes the work possible: a single commission does not cover the cost of building a world by hand, and selling the theme afterwards is how that cost is recovered. In exchange you receive 30% of the net proceeds of every sale of your world, for as long as it sells. The full terms are in the Commission Agreement.
The public world never carries your beloved's identity. Before release, every real name and identifying detail is removed or changed. What survives into the public theme is the mood, the palette, the era, the light — the art, not the person. The named version, with your dedication as you wrote it, is delivered privately to you and to no one else.
If you are not comfortable with any part of this, do not commission a world. The app, the reading, and everything else remain free and open to you regardless.
The legal basis
- India (DPDP Act, 2023): your consent, given freely, specifically, and with
this notice in front of you. You may withdraw it (§5).
- EU/UK (GDPR): Article 6(1)(a) consent for the story and its use as
described above; Article 6(1)(b) contract for the purchase itself.
4. How long we keep things

Tax records are the one thing we cannot delete on request; the law fixes that period and we cannot shorten it.
5. Your rights
You may, at any time and free of charge:
- See everything we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your story and your account record — including after a world has
been built. Deleting the story does not withdraw a world already released, but it does erase the account of who it was for; your royalty entitlement is unaffected.
- Withdraw consent for future use.
- Take your data with you in a machine-readable file.
- Complain — to us first, and then to the Data Protection Board of India, or
to your local supervisory authority in the EU/UK.

6. Security
Payment pages are hosted by the payment provider, so card data never reaches our servers. Stories are encrypted at rest. Access links are signed and expire. Administrative access is limited to the maker.
No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India, without waiting to be asked.
7. Children
Ophelia is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us a story, write to peace.ingenious@gmail.com and we will delete it.
8. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your story, we will email everyone who has sent us one before the change takes effect. Lesser changes are posted here with a new effective date.
